C+A was hired to create a usable, marketable, vibrant space out of an underutilized and outdated building. The objective also included challenging base building re-organization of the common spaces to satisfy the more current requirements for security, information technology, occupational, health and safety regulations and barrier free accessibility. The existing ground floor commercial space was retrofitted to house a public information interactive display space. It was designed using lively, contrasting colours and materials to appeal to a younger audience for the tenant’s youth exchange services and programs.

The office space was created by converting the commercial kitchen and restaurant’s seating areas as well as the tiered seating of the two story windowless theatre. Space was maximized by filling in atriums, creating a mezzanine level in the original theatre space as well as through the re-organization of some of the base building services in the core area.
