C+A worked closely with the clients of this home to provide them with a beautiful space that incorporated as may green principals of energy efficiency as the budget allowed. These green principals began with thoughtful demolition of the previous house where the materials were sold for reuse, donated, or recycled. The new building incorporated many energy efficient elements from the appliances to the HVAC system and insulation. As a forward thinking action the clients built conduits into their new chimney to allow for future use of solar water panels.

The clients wanted a house that they could retire in so C+A designed the ground floor to have a den at the back which will become the master bedroom when the stairs become more onerous. Being avid gardeners, the house was also designed to have a south facing greenhouse area tied into the kitchen, which also provides some heat gain in the winter to warm the house.
