Located in Rockcliffe Park, this house was previously a U.S. Embassy residence with a functional kitchen designed for use by staff. Like many of the houses of this era, it required updating to meet the needs of the modern family. This project replaced the kitchen and servant’s quarters with a new kitchen and family room and relocated the back stairs to the north in order to create a strong connection with the back yard, veranda and the south-east sun. Many other areas of the house were updated including an expanded master closet and bathroom, updated bathrooms, second floor home office, a basement gym and media room and a remodelled side entrance. C+A worked closely with the client and their chosen contractor in order to develop a solution that suited the client’s needs and budget.
