Putting science on display

Project Description

The University of Ottawa Advanced Research Complex (ARC) houses two leading research efforts: the uOttawa Centre for Advanced Photonics and a cluster of state-of-the-art Geo-Science laboratories.b Constructed by Pomerleau, this five-storey, 14,860m2 building (including 6,002m2 of labs and 2,312m2 of office and support space) serves as a teaching and research facility in photonics and environmental analysis. In addition to offices, classrooms, clean rooms for laser testing, laboratories, and specialized spaces devoted to research into inert gases and the analysis of glacial specimens, the building is home to Canada’s only accelerator mass spectrometer (a $13 million instrument used worldwide to measure trace radionuclides). The project has achieved LEED® Gold Certification.
